Union Attorney Confirmed as 9th Circuit Judge
June 13, 2000 by Beeson Tayer & Bodine
On March 9, the Senate approved the long-delayed and fiercely-contested nomination of Union attorney Marsha S. Berzon to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Despite strong opposition by conservatives, she won the votes of 19 Republicans and all 45 Democrats. Ms. Berzon has been an associate general counsel with the AFL-CIO since 1987, as well as a partner with the Union-side law firm of Altshuler, Berzon, Nussbaum, Berzon & Rubin.
